Another overcast morning helped keep the temperature down again. This is getting to be a nice morning feature. Seeing more locals out enjoying the morning and getting a little exercise.

Rain looks to be possible in the late afternoon for the rest of the week.

With less than 2 weeks to go, the summer vacation season is turning out to be a great disappointment for everyone but the politicians who talk about cifras alegres that don't match the reality. While I'm sure we're all happy that a few beach restaurants and the cooperatives that operate the water taxis are doing a decent business, the great majority of us aren't enjoying the same benefits, underscoring that our tourism is not sustainable. It never is. It is not a sustainable industry, and it shouldn't be our only industry in places like Zihuatanejo, Troncones or Acapulco. We urgently need to expand our economic possibilities in Guerrero, including investing in our extensive but neglected agricultural sector.

There's a wonderful salsa dance class event taking place at the pier this evening. You can check it out live this evening on the webcam for the pier on my BEACHES page. Sorry I forgot to mention it yesterday. What a fun time everyone there is having. The pier itself was empty when we walked it because everyone was where the music is playing by the offices of the Capitanía.

This Friday there's going to be a Callejoneada starting from the museum with traditional music and dancers along the Paseo del Pescador at 7:30 p.m., and also tropical music at the Cancha Municipal. Should be a fun time.
