Another evening and another morning of hurricane weather. Strong winds and heavy rains separated by periods of deceptive calm. Personally, I find this weather invigorating. After returning early this Monday morning from walking our dog during a light period of rain, I watched from our window as the other side of the bay disappeared into the oncoming rain, which was when I took the photo below.

The road to Acapulco was so flooded in parts that traffic came to a standstill between Pedregoso and Cerrito de Oro until the water subsided and the debris could be cleared.

Around the middle of the day the sun started trying to peek through, and apparently even though the port was supposedly closed to boat traffic some visitors went to Playa Las Gatas because we ran into them this evening during a walk to the pier. Other visitors spent money at local shops during the day and at the few restaurants that were open.

The main walkway was still covered in sand this evening as was the Cancha Municipal. Those poor workers must be going crazy having to sweep the sand every morning along with thousands of figs from several amate trees that are also falling on the walkway every day.

A heads up that Rufo's Restaurant is back open.

And the surf has been excellent at Las Gatas!
