And just like that it's December again!

Being awakened by an industrial-sized leaf-blower from hell at 6AM on Sunday morning is never a pleasant experience. I can't imagine who at Zihuatanejo's ayuntamiento believes waking residents and visitors with such noise at such an hour is an acceptable thing to do. If I knew where they lived I'd be tempted to repay the favor.

Speaking of noise, in the coming days from Dec. 1 to 12 the peregrinaciones guadalupanas will occur. Unfortunately, many groups of guadalupanos still use huge skyrockets that explode quite loudly "to announce their arrival" as if we still lived in a rural village, not a small city full of homes with pets who can literally be scared to death by such explosions. So many pets get lost at this time of the year as they panic and flee their homes. Never mind that for many of us here who have lived through shootouts, we never know if the explosions are fireworks or attacks by criminal gangs, and they can be quite distressing for us. But it's only for the next 12 days, so we suck it up and hope one day to have a more representative and illuminated local government to actually represent us. The priests also need to do their part and ask the guadalupanos not to shoot off such large rockets, if they must shoot off any at all.

The surf continues to be small and disappointing for experienced surfers, though good for beginners. Barely any waves are even reaching a meter high in the region. No change is expected for the next several days.

I'm sure there was a breeze somewhere, but we sure didn't notice any for most of the day in Zihuatanejo. Although there were a few rain clouds in the region, none passed over Zihuatanejo.

And today is the official end of our Hurricane Season. Until next May 15.

A place where stress simply doesn't factor into one's daily routine.
