La Puerta de Ixtapa

I remember when La Puerta was a small town and I believe at one point the entrance to Ixtapa from Zihuatanejo.

While it may seem like a village, it used to be a large humedal full of majestic parotas and open grassy areas, most which of course were cut down. I believe it belonged to the Palacios family, if I recall correctly from several family get-togethers we went to there in the late 80's to early 90's. It was never the entrance to Ixtapa. That has always been the same road as is used now.
