This Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the Cancha Municipal there will be a presentation of the 4° Festival Folclórico Brisa y Tradición consisting of 605 participants in 23 different dance groups in addition to dance groups from our own region. Forgive me for not announcing this sooner. The music and dancing are simply phenomenal!

Today Thursday's weather was much like yesterday's, and I expect it will be similar to tomorrow's. Rain clouds in the sierra teased us, but locally we still enjoyed mild temperatures, high humidity (great for my skin and sinuses), hardly any waves, and a light breeze. There was a coolness in the evening air that I couldn't be sure if it came from the cooling ocean or a stray breeze coming down from the sierra where the rains are still falling, fortunately for inhabitants of the sierra.

Wednesday evening there was a major annual Sailfest event at the municipal pier with music and dining, but this year instead of making people have to use the walkway along the canal behind the Capitanía's building, they left a pathway along the pier entrance so that people could access the pier more easily. PERFECT! Thank you sincerely for responding positively to my complaints about this in past years. Visitors and locals all left the pier with a more positive image of the event attended mostly by extranjeros.

Unfortunately, at Playa Majahua in Troncones today, locals and visitors were witness to a whale trapped in a fishing net struggling to breathe. I don't know what the outcome was, if anyone was able to free the whale, but no fishermen should be using these long nets here during this time of year. We continue enjoying many whale sightings with their newborns along our part of the coast. They seem almost attracted to areas of high human activity, possibly because the boats and the fishermen tend to scare away sharks, a major concern for momma whales right now.

Also, the Monarch butterflies are still in the forests of Michoacán's high mountain area. Now's a good time to still book a tour. They won't be there much longer.
