This Friday morning didn't feel quite as cool as earlier this week. The humidity continues to be around 80%, so it feels a little warmer than the actual temperature.
Since the last Friday of the month is typically a day without classes, visitors from the inland towns and cities started arriving Thursday to enjoy the weekend. The downtown beach was busy today with families enjoying their picnics on the beach without having their bags searched or any belongings confiscated as happens on the Blue Flag beaches where too many locals and visitors simply don't feel welcome or comfortable.
A girls' volleyball tournament is going on at the Cancha Deportiva this Friday and throughout this weekend, so expect to see lots of girls in their sport uniforms around town while they're visiting us from other parts of Mexico.
While out for a stroll this evening we came across another wing-ding at the muelle tonight with the Mariachi Torcazos playing and caterers from dozens of local restaurants with their wares in a buffet style set up. More than a few people looked to heading for the dessert first. The food looked and smelled absolutely delicious! The music sounded great! And once again, a path was left for users of the pier to easily get back and forth without having to use the walkway behind the port captain's offices. ¡Gracias!
And at the entrance to the pier were other musicians and dancers warming up, so many people happy and enjoying themselves. Then at the Cancha Municipal the folkloric dancers were putting on a wonderful show. All the traditional Mexican music sounded so wonderful! Be sure to come see the folkloric dancers! This Saturday will be their last night. Follow the link for details.

But then we passed by the new restaurant El Dani, and they've once again got terrible music thumping and blaring at ridiculous noise levels. Once again being disrespectful to their upstairs neighbors who operate a language school. No wonder they didn't have any customers. What a terrible disappointment. I don't expect they'll last long at this rate. I certainly can't recommend them. Being a good neighbor is extremely important in the close confines of our small old original downtown area.
Don't forget to visit "Las Iguanas Bazar" in La Ropa next to Casa Tucanes this Saturday and Sunday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. where you'll find a fun time, the wonderful works of local artisans and merchants, and lots of sustainable products.

Also, the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" happens every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:40 p.m. in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in downtown Zihuatanejo by the waterfront where La Boquita canal runs into the bay. Besides wonderful handcrafts, they feature a variety of homegrown produce, fresh foods including pastries, breads and tamales, fresh coffee, juices and mezcal.

Hotel Quinta Camelinas is one of Zihuatanejo's hidden gems. A truly lovely and extremely comfortable colonial-style boutique hotel with a pool offering different sized rooms and suites, perfect for couples, all with air-conditioning, cable TV and wi-fi internet access. Conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood two blocks from La Madera Beach in the Darío Galeana neighborhood near the fire department. (click to enlarge photo)
