This Wednesday morning was barely cool at all. The sun is rising earlier and earlier, and whatever coolness we were enjoying in the wee hours these past few weeks seems to have ended, though much of the rest of Mexico is still having cold temperatures and rainstorms, some with incredible amounts of hail. We're incredibly fortunate here on the Costa Grande of Guerrero!

Speaking of fortunate... having so many good bakeries within easy walking distance is sheer ecstasy! Each with their special types of pastries that we love. And of course, they all go great with a licuado de plátano, mango, chocolate, mamey or fresa. No drive-thru breakfast for us! ;-)

It's like a ghost town here all of a sudden. Most of the sailboats have left. A very few foreign and national visitors are around, but the waterfront was mostly dead during the day. Almost no one was at the beach this Wednesday. And this evening the waterfront restaurants had very few clients. No waiting list at La Porteña.

Fires and smoky skies are becoming more commonplace. We saw several fires on Cerro Viejo while we were at the pier. A few recent fires have already gotten out of control. Most are set by people who will plant maize, but there are always some that are set either by unscrupulous developers or by people seeking to steal public land. Unfortunately for us, it seems as if our municipal government is only too happy to accommodate both instead of actually following the law. :-(

The water has calmed back down. Waves only got smaller as the day wore on. There's still some decent surfing swells predicted for this week, but not near as large as they were these past few days. Mostly around a meter or so for the next couple of days. The ocean temp is around 27°C, maybe a bit less in spots. The big question before Semana Santa is what's the ocean going to do. It seems to always have a surprise for Semana Santa vacationers. One year it's red tide, another year it's cold currents, another huge swells. It's always something.

[image]Villas Troncones on Troncones Beach is a lovely lodging away from the crowds with the beach out your front door and where the night sky can still be appreciated. Ten villas featuring from 1 to 5 bedrooms surrounding a pool. All villas have ceiling fans, A/C and kitchens. Meals are available prepared on property. Located within easy walking distance of other restaurants, convenience stores and the village. They still have availability for the upcoming Christmas vacation season! (click to enlarge photo)

Se ve varios incendios en el Cerro Viejo de Zihuatanejo durante un atardecer con nubes que parecen fuego pintado en el cielo.
