We were pleasantly surprised by another coolish morning with a nice breeze coming from the sierra. It made for a very pleasant morning stroll with our furry family member. Seaward the skies remained mostly void of clouds, but over the sierra puffy cumulus clouds teased of rains to come. Though not any time soon for those of us here in Zihuatanejo. But rains in the sierra mean our rivers continue to flow and the people who farm in the sierra continue to enjoy good harvests.

The ocean has warmed up considerably along the coast, around 28.4°C to 28.8°C. But captains say that further out there are still cooler currents affecting deep-sea fishing. Nevertheless, tuna continue to be caught, making for some fine eating. There's nothing like our local fish so fresh it was swimming the night before.

The ocean was calm as glass most of the day. Just tiny little waves in our bay, almost unnoticeable. Perfect for all the folks who showed up today and filled the beaches of Zihuatanejo Bay. Boats were still returning after sunset from Playa Las Gatas when we strolled to the pier this evening. People smiling and reddened from the sun were all along the waterfront. Good to see even if they weren't really spending much money here. We always welcome everyone to Zihuatanejo, but it's a shame to see our so-called tourism authorities failing us so much while smiling for photos at parties and other public events. I've yet to see a politician who knew how to promote Zihuatanejo other than our former mayor, padrino de boda and longtime friend Armando Federico González Rodríguez, now deceased. It's sad watching so many businesses struggling, so many dreams shattered due to the lack of tourism with the purchasing power our community of over 100,000 inhabitants needs. And the local government continues ignoring the need to diversify our local economy.

They offer a luxurious Penthouse; 3 Master Suites with an ocean view, mini-pool and kitchenette; 8 Suites with kitchenettes; 5 Junior Suites with kitchenettes; and 5 Standard Rooms without kitchenettes. Relaxation guaranteed! (click to enlarge photo)
