Friday morning was another bright and warm morning. The humidity made it feel even warmer, but it wasn't so bad as earlier this week. The waves were much calmer today, but they're expected to pick up this evening and tomorrow.

Quite a few visitors showed up today. By the late afternoon Playa Principal was full of sunbathers enjoying the warm calm waters of the bay. Restaurants along the waterfront began filling up, and local downtown shops enjoyed some significant sales today. It looks like we're going to have a fairly decent weekend of tourism that includes a substantial number of middle-to-upper-middle-class visitors from the inland towns and cities. Just what we need!

The municipal government removed the statue of Tte. Juan Álvarez from the plaza in front of the Sector Naval today. They say they have no plan to replace it with a statue we would actually like to see there. Of course not.

I'm not sure if any of you have been here during a World Cup Soccer series before, but one thing you can count on is that everything comes to a stop when Mexico's national team plays. It's like siesta time on steroids. TV's everywhere will be tuned in to the games whenever Mexico plays, and even if you're at a restaurant, don't expect much service for the 90 minutes of the match. It's not a time to do anything but enjoy the game and root for our team, so be patient with us while we do one of our favorite things. ;-)
