Another good rain arrived around 4AM this Saturday morning. It only added to the ambiance and made sleeping even more pleasant with the sound of the rain and the waves combing to make wonderful wet sounds. Of course it also caused tons more of garbage to wash into the bay as well as incredible amounts of erosion from our deforested hillsides full of cement roads with no pluvial drainage. Playa Las Gatas won't last much longer as the beautiful little blue cove it is with all the new condo developments happening above it and the denuded hillsides now surrounding it. Estamos matando la gallina de los huevos de oro.

The port was closed to navigation this Saturday, except for water taxis to Las Gatas, and it's expected to remain so for the next several days as a storm system forms up off our coast and makes its way towards the Costa Grande. Waves are expected to reach 4 meters along the open coast. Expect flooding, landslides, strong winds, and coastal erosion. The pier at Playa Linda also remains closed.

Make sure your water drainage on your home and in your yard (if you have one) is clear of debris and ready for what's coming. We've spent the past few days getting our home ready for heavy rains and high winds. Don't wait until the last minute. And be sure to have candles handy for when the lights go out.

We bought tamales this Saturday morning for breakfast at the Eco-Tianguis Sanka. As usual, they were absolutely delicious. One of our favorite Saturday treats, and less than half a block away from our home. Aren't we lucky? Yes, indeed!
