Una RepetiZIHón de Hace Un Año
What wonderful and refreshing sleeping weather we enjoyed Sunday night. It sprinkled a little overnight, nothing serious, just enough to bring the temperature down. It got so cool we had to sleep under the sheets. Nice!
Monday morning we awoke to a nice rain. It kept the morning nice and refreshing. It let up enough finally so that folks could get out and enjoy their coffee and stretch their legs. Interesting fact: one year ago the weather was exactly the same while we were under the effects of Tropical Storm Barbara. Déjà vu.
Tropical Storm Boris isn't expected to impact us as much as was previously thought. It's expected to hit the coast of Guerrero around Ometepec and dissipate as its remnants travel northwestward through the sierra. While we'll probably get some rain this evening and tomorrow morning, I expect we'll see plenty of sunshine to start drying us out by tomorrow afternoon.
Classes for public and private schools are cancelled again for this Tuesday.
Amazingly there were tourists swimming in the bay at Playa Principal today. It's incredibly irresponsible of our municipal government not to put warning signs on beaches after rains to warn about the unhealthy conditions of the water.
Still no lights at the municipal pier after dark. This is way past disrespectful at this point, all for the vanity project of our mayor to sell her husband's cement for her equivalent of a ballroom at the pier, i.e. a bigger space for her parties. The pier is not a salón de fiestas, it's a work area. Zihuatanejo deserves better than this.
The rains have washed everything clean. The hills should be a bright green within a week or so as our woodlands come back to life wherever the hillsides haven't been deforested for all the new homes, for both rich and poor, and all the new luxury developments. Glad I can still remember how beautiful our hillsides used to be.

Hace un año la tormenta tropical Bárbara llegó a Zihuatanejo y pareció igualito que hoy cuando estamos esperando Boris.
