The heat and high humidity continue to bear down upon us this Thursday, and the forecasted rains continue to elude us. Milder temperatures are predicted in the coming days along with an increase in the chances of rain. A nice long light rain without the wind would be ideal. Maybe Friday evening.

Zihuatanejo's only real investigative reporter, Alex Serna, has been missing for several days. He has documented much alleged corruption, crimes and irregularities by the current mayor and her husband, particularly their cement business. He also has documented, reported and denounced alleged corruption, crimes and irregularities by several local land developers as well as a mango packing plant in Los Llanos-La Saladita owned by a foreigner. But the bulk of suspicion rests with the source of the only threats he has received, allegedly from the owners of the El Hujal cement company, so Alex's friends and followers are mainly looking at the mayor and her husband to assure his safe return. Thousands of locals are extremely anxious to locate Alex alive right now, me included.

The mar de fondo effect continues with large swells along our coast washing high on the beaches. In Zihuatanejo's bay they only pose a minor problem mostly at La Madera and La Ropa. But folks at Playa Principal didn't seem to be bothered today.

No real tourism to speak of at the moment in Zihuatanejo. Certainly no crowds. All the downtown waterfront restaurants were either empty or mostly so this evening except La Porteña which was full of locals.
