Problemas con LicenZIHas Locales
The overnight and early morning temperatures bring little relief from the ongoing heat spell. The water temperature is around 31°C, and it pretty much determines the minimum temperature that we feel along the coast. This Thursday's high was recorded at around 36°C, but with a heat index well over 40°C even this evening after sunset. No good chances of rain until Sunday, Monday and Tuesday when an area of low pressure will pass by our coast dragging along some rainstorms as it forms up. Fortunately, it will move northwestward and away from us, so we'll only get some rain and hopefully no strong winds. But it should kick up some swells reaching over 3 meters expected along our coast by the latter part of the coming week.
If you have a drivers license that was issued in Zihuatanejo, it may not be valid anywhere else but Zihuatanejo. Be sure to check the validity of your locally-issued drivers license before driving anywhere but Zihuatanejo. If you get stopped and it doesn't show up in this registry, you may be detained and/or fined.

The "capricho de la reina" continues at the pier. One of the public projects that was denounced for allegedly being irregular by murdered ecologist and investigative reporter Alex Serna, as was the Capricho del Rey project. Today the ZIHUA letters came down in pieces as did the small religious alcove with the image of the Virgen de Guadalupe that belongs to the local fishermen. And of course the pier continues to remain in darkness at night. The mayor truly has no shame and remains quite careless with expenditures using our taxes.
There continues to be a dearth of visitors around the area. Those at the hotels on the beach in Ixtapa mostly don't leave their hotels. A few were on the beaches today, but most downtown restaurants and shops remained empty most of the day. Everyone's wondering what happened to the summer vacationers. School has been out for most students in Mexico since the beginning of the month.
For a totally relaxing Bed & Breakfast lodging overlooking the remaining jungle in La Ropa, I highly recommend a hidden gem called Casa Arcoíris. The view of the sunset over the treetops from their pool is breathtaking, and the peace and quiet will relieve you of any stress. Five comfortable suites with air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi access at this LGBTQ-friendly lodging make it somewhat exclusive and definitely enchanting. Mention ZihuaRob's and get a discount.
