With all the had core complaining about the changes being made to Zihua and the desire to keep it the quaint place it use to be…

The city needs to get into the 1960’s with a modicum of sewage treatment. Or is human waste flowing into your your beautiful bay just another quaint old time way of Zihua we want to keep?

Edit. Idk, maybe “don’t swim within three days of a rainstorm” should be the new Zihua advertising campaign slogan.

While there may indeed be some human waste from all the shanties on the hillsides and septic tanks from the more affluent hillside homes, the problem is mostly PLASTIC and garbage that people toss in the streets, the canals and the bushes with impunity. I reported an elderly couple who lives by Plaza Kioto for throwing their garbage into the canal, and I got a lot of hateful comments, and the elderly woman still curses me every time I walk by. She and her husband continue throwing their trash into the canal instead of waste receptacles less than 25 meters away. City workers know about them, but don't say a thing, much less fine them for littering. Apparently the current municipal administration doesn't care about anything except pouring cement and the appearance of clean beaches, streets and plazas. While it's nice to look clean, the rains washing immense amounts of garbage into our bay is another of our old unattended problems.

However, I would say the same thing in Florida or the Caribbean. Don't swim for 3 days after a heavy rainstorm ANYWHERE except a pool.
