Monday morning was warm and muggy after a light overnight rain. The wind picked up later and remained fairly strong for much of the day causing quite a bit of sand to blow from what's left of the beach onto the downtown waterfront walkway where some poor public worker was trying to sweep it up with a small broom. It was cloudy off and on, and the wind stirred the waves up a bit. Yet even with the wind and waves, there were still die-hards at the beach enjoying their vacation. That's the spirit!

In Ixtapa the large waves and black flag warnings kept hotel guests out of the ocean. The waves also looked larger at La Ropa than they were at our part of the bay. Some surfers were making the best of things at Playa Las Gatas.

The port remains closed to small vessels, so no one has been out fishing since Sunday morning, meaning no fresh fish at local restaurants and prices will go up. It also ruined the day for water taxis to Playa Las Gatas who were not allowed to work.

A friend's wife found a small bag with a debit card in it with the name of Kenneth Mack, in case anyone knows him. Let me know and I'll put them in touch with each other.

Rachel is expected to breeze past us to the northwest without getting any closer, but we're still expecting large waves along the coast facing the open ocean, rain and gusting winds. Things should return back to "normal" by this Wednesday.
