Thursday morning started out refreshingly cool and overcast. We enjoyed strolling to the mercado municipal for some take-out breakfast fare at our favorite place, Carmelo's. Killer quesadillas with all kinds of goodies, and a jar of fresh-squeezed OJ. ¡Delicioso!

The forecasted overnight rain never happened, but storm clouds could be seen out to sea and in the sierra at daybreak. Thursday was a beautiful picture-postcard-perfect day! Couldn't ask for better weather, except a little evening rain would been nice.

I couldn't help but notice that it doesn't look like the municipal government is going to finish their work on the mercado municipal. They appear to have left most of it unfinished, and much of what they did was simply patch and paint, covering up old exposed rusty rebar. Though I suspect the invoice they present to the auditing authorities will include work that was never done. While what's been done looks nice, it isn't what was promised, according to some of the mercado's tenants.

There certainly is a noticeable increase in northern visitors, especially Canadians. Shops owned by friends and neighbors say their business has improved, and local restaurants have been much busier for dinner. Groups of chatting and smiling visitors were walking up and down the waterfront this evening and through the pedestrian streets. Locals can be heard everywhere practicing their English with them. Good to see!

Seaside Apartments feature four apartments and one bungalow, all very comfortable and nicely decorated in a Zihuatanejo Mexican style with affordable rates. With room for from 2 to 5 people. Three of the properties are located in La Madera Beach and two are at the southern end of La Ropa Beach. One has a pool.
