Our first visit to the area was in 1998 when Apple Vacations chartered a old Greek ship for a 7 day Mexican Riviera r/t out of PV- they offered special air fare from Chicago if you did the cruise. Funny thing was one night it was dark and we were up on deck and saw these red lights in the distance on shore- did not realize till we started to Ixtapa the red lights were from the large hotels along the water. We did the farm/beach tour and really loved the day a shore. Our first week was in 1999 again with a Apple Vacations tour out of Chicago staying at the Dorado and have been coming back ever since.
