For your next visit, try spending a day at the Villa Mexicana on La Ropa. Since it is a "sister" hotel with the Irma, the facilities are at your use free of charge. There are no stairs to the beach which, IMHO, is the best on Zihuatanejo bay. Plenty of restaurants and plenty of cold beverages.
