Golf

I have not played Palma or Marina in over a year but at that time the condition of both was more muni than resort which just highlights the fact that Ixtapa is not a golf destination. If golf is a high priority there are other, much better options in Mexico (one reason I would have trouble spending more than a few weeks a year in Zihuatanejo). I have found that the way to approach golf in Ixtapa is as an occasional, low-key event. Bring low expectations, cigars and plenty of beer money. Bet often, buy drinks for the caddies, let them play a couple holes with you and basically make the most of it. It isn't Cabo del Sol, Punta Mita or Mayakoba, and never will be, but at $70 or $80 it ain't a bad way to spend a few hours.
