Z Bay Magic
It looks like the storms are gone for a while and the bay is returning to life after almost a week suffering port closures, rains, winds and high waves from what turned into Hurricane Odile. There is all kinds of damage to structures such as the walkway to La Madera, most of the local piers, almost all of the beachfront restaurants outside the bay along the open ocean who built on the beach from Saladitas down to Acapulco and beyond, and several homes and lodgings that also built too close to the beach. Though even after all the damage from this storm it is unlikely that building regulations will change or that beachfront property owners will have an epiphany of common sense and suddenly move their structures 100 yards back from the high tide line.
But it's a day to celebrate in Zihuatanejo and throughout Mexico and most of us here are just glad to be alive and to be in such a beautiful place as Zihuatanejo. I know Lupita and I certainly are!
¡Viva Zihuatanejo!
¡Viva México!
This was just a magnificent sight this morning!
