Capula and Las Catrinas: A Trip Report of sorts...

We visited his studio 2 years ago when we were touring Morelia and the small villages between Morelia and Patzquaro. Did you visit his church where his art work is on display ( he had a beautiful portrait of his mother)- his wife does the Catrinas and Juan does the paintings. Coming out of the church we were met by this beautiful young lady and she turned out to be his daughter. We were asked if we would like to tour his studio in their home- what a beautiful home. In the back of the studio there was this antique piano and we asked did he play and she said when he was in the mood he is a concert pianist. On the right side of the door going downstairs there were 3 different size of easels that when he was really in the mood he would have 3 different paintings of different sizes he did at the same time. We were invited through the door that went down stairs to the daughter's studio. The daughter does hand made designer purses and was doing a show that Saturday and we were invited but was catching a bus to "Z"- was glad we had had problems with the ATM that morning because the cheapest purse was $100 US- this was when the students were blocking roads and some of the banks blocked withdrawals from the States we found out later.
