Well Holy Mole those are exactly my questions also, and will be asking them when I send my letter (almost ready to go) to all the contacts that Rob supplied.
I, like you, have always felt and told people that while the issues are real, they seldom impact people living their little quiet lives here, nor tourists. Evidently I just turned the page on a new chapter. I always was very happy that I had never had an uncomfortable moment, nor personally known anyone who had a problem. I didn't think the situation that would change that would come from taxi drivers!

Yes, my Mexican friend's car has plates from here. So does mine. We always had Canadian plates, until a year ago when we bought a car here. Since we are now permanente residentes we can no longer have a foreign vehicle here.
