Already missing Zihua

Thanks JoAnna and Kim. I have to admit, I took this photo, believe it or not, on Sept 8. It was the day I confirmed our accommodation in Zihua. Jules sent me a text to ask how the weather was in Canmore and I wanted her to know both the weather and that we were all booked up.

Little did I know that this freak storm would turn into one of Calgary's biggest weather disasters since the flood of 2013 (the biggest natural disaster in Canadian History). Because the leaves were still on the trees, the branches held far more snow than normal. In Calgary some 80% of trees suffered significant damage.

My good friends had both their cars crushed under fallen trees. One of them got a rental from his insurance a few days later and another tree fell on that. It took weeks for all the storm weakened branches to fall and it may be years before we know the real impact of the storm/

I've never been so happy to be booked to a warmer climate.

After the late arrival tonight, I woke up to -30C to go to work. My God, I am not ready for this.

Can I come back to Zihua now?
