TRIP REPORT #2

by Tamie in Idaho, Friday, March 18, 2011, 14:02 (5656 days ago)

After spending two days relaxing at the beach and pool, eating and snacking at all our favorite places, we felt ready to do a bit more exploring. We had Carlos pick us up at 8am for a trip to the market. We spent the morning at the street produce stands and poking around inside the market in Zihua Centro before it got too hot. Carlos was a great help in pointing out how choose the perfect pineapple and knowing where to buy the best vanilla beans and coffee. He also knew the best bakery, and which vendors had reputations for being fair, serving fresh food and running clean establishments. I enjoyed my favorite breakfast of a fresh pastry and horchata. We loved our morning at the market!

Before we returned for more pool time, guacamole & chips and our afternoon margarita, Carlos took us to a small river in Zihuatanejo to see local women washing clothes (and kids) in the river. There was a certain beauty to the clothes hanging in the trees, and amazing to see these hard working women using the same techniques used for generations. And I truly do love my Maytag!
