KO , I read about your La Madera swimming adventure and your balanced reaction and can understand some reluctance on your part to repeat the experience , however rare it likely was .

If you are a good enough swimmer for daily workouts I would encourage you to plan a swim from the south end of La Ropa beach by the big rock and the oyster salesmen out towards Las Gatas a suitable distance or what feels like half your usual workout and then turn around and return .

There would be no lifegaurd , of course , but there is much to be seen , smaller than saurians , as you swim with just with goggles . Another safety concern is boat traffic but if you just keep what feels like a safe distance from the shore and depths that are too shallow the tow boats aren't an issue . The height of the cerro shades this shoreline in different places as the day progresses and an afternoon swim might see the first direct sunlight in some little bays . There are often pleasure fishermen on the little points to be respectful of and avoid .

You could have a spotter walk the shore or a swimming partner at first and you might add fins to your swim if you don't currently to tone and work slightly different leg muscles and to add distance without any extra energy use . The pink coating on the shore rocks adds some reflective visibilty to the creatures that have always been smaller then saurians but still an even more remote possibility .

The waiters at the Rossy always safegaurd our shoes and towels . Give the south shore a try for your swim or a lazy snorkelish swim with just goggles some afternoon or rent some fins or full gear from the shack by the Gaviotas if you don't have your own .

If your concerns include water quality it strikes me that this remote south shore has the best chance of the cleanest bay water as well .

I enjoy your input and attitude and wish you well .

Please be happy always
