Protest?

Anyone know what the protest was about in town today?

Yes, the State government has apparently withheld the pay from some of its teachers. Apart from the fact that many teachers simply do not work, the State's reason should be because the teachers' unions have caused millions of pesos worth of damage throughout the state, especially in Chilpancingo and Iguala, and they have stolen millions more pesos by commandeering the toll booths on the Acapulco-Mexico City toll road time and time again since the murder of the teaching students from Ayotzinapa last September. But the State makes other excuses, blaming the federal government claiming they are purging over 12,000 teachers from the rolls because they do not believe they work. The teachers' unions in Mexico are some of the most powerful in all of Latin America due to their numbers and their power as a voting bloc. It's a long story, but I do not side with the teachers even though I used to be one. The unions are in the wrong for not wanting to accept an educational reform that now requires teachers to actually WORK and to actually be CERTIFIED TEACHERS or at least hold a relevant diploma instead of passing on their jobs to family members or simply selling their jobs to whomever will pay a small fortune, since in Guerrero they are one of the juiciest jobs. My goodness, you get paid even if you don't work! Even if you spend months in protests and on strike and destroying public property, you will not get arrested or lose your job, but you WILL GET PAID.

It's MADNESS!:lunatic:

So if the State government wants to play games with their paychecks while the teachers unions childishly pretend to be victims, I'm with the State on this one. Most educated taxpaying parents in Guerrero are fed up with the teachers' unions and their nonsense. Teachers need to SHOW UP TO WORK AND TEACH, not act like vandals and thugs.
