Mazatlan Bypass
We just made the same run, and are spending the night in Ajo, Arizona.
You get to use the new Mazatlan bypass! For a car, 41p. and you completely skip the city-a real treat!
For us, the real treat IS Mazatlan. We'll spend 3 or 4 nights there, then overnight at San Carlos, then Tucson for some Rosatti's Pizza.
What the heck are you doing over in Ajo? We spent a night there 20 years ago, on one of our motorcycle trips from Canada. Actually, Ajo was kind of nice....very laid back, (like any other abandoned Phelps-Dodge copper town), with a very Mexican-like little zocalo.
