As I predicted after the last tropical storm a few weeks ago, we've had no rain since then, though it got close last night. Currently we are in the throes of La Canícula, a period of high temperatures that usually occurs this time every year. The heat isn't too bad until the humidity goes up, as it has for the past couple of days, especially last evening when the thunderstorms appeared to be headed our way out of the southeast but mysteriously died off as soon as they got between Petatlán and here.

¡Estamos sala'os!

The town is still full of national tourists, mostly large families who appear to be having an excellent time. I doubt many of them are complaining of the heat since it's part of what they come for, and it makes playing in the ocean and the swimming pools all that much more enjoyable. Three more weeks and they'll all be heading back home for the start of the school season.
