Planning a November trip - thought we would try somewhere new but our thoughts keep coming back to Z. Usually visit Z in mid Jan but have also been in mid/late March and early/mid Dec (before the holidays). What should we expect in early Nov. Assuming it will be quiet like early Dec but ....? How's the weather then? Will most restaurants be open? Any wisdom appreciated.

November is PRIME TIME to be in Zihuatanejo. You might get to enjoy the last rains of the season, you'll definitely get to enjoy the verdant hillsides and colorful sunsets. It's usually a fairly warm month as we transition through the end of the hurricane/rainy season, but not stifling hot like a lot of states in the southern part of the U.S. are experiencing.
Any restaurant worth eating at should be open, and you get to beat the winter crowds and usually the winter rate hikes.
Here are a few scenes from last November.

We have been to Z several times, always in November, and will be spending the whole month this year. We have only had rain once (2 yrs ago). The weather has otherwise always been ideal, and things are still green from the rainy season.
We've run into the occasional sign saying some restaurant will be opening for the season they day after we leave, but most of the places downtown will be open, and if one isn't the next one will be happy to have you.
I'm sure you'll be pleased with your choice of dates.

Nov thru Mar.are perfect!
17 in our family went one yr. & spent Thanksgiving.
Several of the men went out fishing that morning & caught quite a few.
The Villa Mexicana cooked them for us with other Mexican dishes & we ate under the gazebo on the beach!
Best Thanksgiving I ever had!

Hola
If you are planning a November visit, be sure you are there for the Day(s) of the Dead. This is from the first to the third of Nov. You will not be disappointed.

We were in Zihua once in November. It was during the second week of November and had a great trip. It was a great trip weather was perfect all sun 28-30 degrees everyday. It was quieter then when we normally go in Jan or Feb . Had no problems finding restaurants open during this time . It was Zihua without the crowds. Would not hesitate to go again in November but found that it made our winter here in BC too long as it left us still 3-4 months of rain to deal with on our return . Now if we could only figure a way to go in November and Jan that would be perfect. Hope to one day be able to stay in Zihua October to March .enjoy your trip

Ha! You sound a lot like us - also from BC. The November trip is a bonus trip for us - in addition to our usual Jan trip to Z. I totally get what you are saying about too much winter ahead if we just went in November. The more time in Z the better.

You will get there, we started our first 6 month stay last year, early Nov to late April but we escape BC winters here in Yoho Park in the Canadian Rockies. Took over 60 years to get there though!
We usually arrive the first or second week of November, and stay through March.
It's fun to experience the change of seasons. Don't laugh, we have them here in Southern California too, just not horribly dramatic.
Zihuatanejo goes from very warm nights to cool nights in November. The world is green. The rain, if it comes down is usually at night, and by our standards is a lot-a couple inches or so. The ocean is warmer, and cools off a bit in November. Think autumn in the tropics.
Restaurants are open. A very few of the seasonal ones, El Manglar, Gringo Gordo come to mind, open in November, or have in the past. It's Zihuatanejo. There are always fabulous places to dine and discover.
The foreign crowds are lighter, the beach less crowded, but Zihuatanejo is wonderful anytime!

My November trip has always been my favorite time. I usually arrive the end of October and leave just before Thanksgiving.
The city is gearing up for high season and you will have the first choice of new items in all the stores.
The weather is perfect, warm with the hint of cool.
The foliage is still very green and lush
Day of the Dead celebration is wonderful. The streets are filled with flower stands and the special bread with sugar is out of this world.
Street are quiet and you can roam aimlessly with out the crowds.
A November trip is always worth it!
Maybe I will see you. I own Armando Hamburguesas with my husband Cecilio and I will be on hand to help the Americans and Canadians

I love November in Zihuatanejo. We've been there in October, November and Early December.
This year we're booked for 11/12 - 11/21

Hola
November til the middle of December is a great time to be in Zihua. All the restaurants are open or opening. The rents are still reasonable. It is usually hot and pleasant but the ocean water in the bay is usually a little too warm for me. Be sure to be there for the Day(s) of the Dead , the first til the third of November.
We will be there from the end of October til the middle of April. Looking forward to it.

Up until a couple of years ago we would do 2 weeks in Oct/Nov to make sure we were able to do the Day of the Dead and then after purchasing the Grand go down in January. With our shop, coming in the fall made it hard for the Holiday Season. We switched to Points(not locked into weeks or units) with Pacifica and go down Jan/Feb for 3 to 4 weeks. We miss the vibrant colors- but at least we get to spend time in Paradise. In 2017 we will spend 1 week at Mercedes and 2 weeks at the Grand. We really miss going down in the fall- our favorite time because of everything being in bloom from the rainy season- have had showers but normally doesn't last long
