What a surprise to find our old friend Tamakún in the zócalo this morning! We almost didn't recognize him in his "civvies", well, except for his little friend on his shoulder. For as long as I can remember I've always seen Tamakún wearing his América "uniform", like he has on in the mural. Much respect for this guy for his love and compassion for our saurian friends and neighbors.

I agree, but frankly I'd rather the city kept its promises and provided him with dignified living accommodations, a pension and full medical coverage instead of painting a mural for him. Bet he wishes the same.

Shame on the city. Tamakun is a Zihua icon. While the mural is an honor, you can't eat it or treat what medical needs arise. It falls short of what this man deserves.
I too only know him through this message board. But it sounds like he is due much greater respect and assistance from the city.

If you want to know him better go to Playa Linda on Saturday or Sunday and watch the show he puts on. Then you can donate to his well being
