La Ropa Beach changes

Within the past couple of days a number of the massage tents which frequented La Ropa have disappeared.
Wonder why?

Article in the local papers talked about the Regulators making those without the permits to move on.

Referring to "a permit to occupy" in a Federal Zone??

1. All beaches in Mexico are public (ha)
2/ Bit there are limitations. For example, 20 meters from the high tide level is considered Federal Zone.
3. Behind the Federal Zone is "private roperty".
4, It is possible to "lease" the Federal Zone and almost all property owners in front of the Federal Zone do, in fact, lease it. Under the lease a property owner may make certain improvements in the ederal Zone including an open air palapa and rent chairs, umbrellas, etc they place in the Federal Zone.
Perhaps the massage table owners do not have a legal right to be there?
BTW "All beaches in Mexico are Free to the Public" is somewhat of a misnomer these days. There is SUUPPOSED to be "public access" lanes to the beaches but they have largely disappeared due to questionable tactics of gaining title thru politics and corruption.

Try getting to the beach in Ixtapa! You have to walk through a hotel lobby to get there.

There are at least three public access points to playa Palmar. There are others that are easy to get through.

I can think of only two public access points to Playa Palmar in that whole long stretch from the dolphinarium south to the funicular, but I'll take your word for it. Regardless, it shouldn't have to be "easy to get through". It's criminal that politicians allowed (and still allow) hotels and resorts to effectively appropriate beaches and/or beach access for themselves. It would have been so easy to draft legislation requiring every beachfront hotel, resort or condo in the nation to provide a public corridor from the street to the beach....to be maintained at each hotel/resort/condo's expense. But politicians and the well-heeled to whom they answer can't be expected to rub shoulders with the great unwashed, can they?
So endeth the sermon for today.

Troncones Beach Access

One of the many things I enjoy about Troncones is the public beach accesses. They are wide enough that an emergency vehicle, like an ambulance, would be able to get to the beach. (Most seem to be unobstructed.) They are also well marked.
I’m not certain of the distance between them, but I’m guessing there is about one per kilometre. That would mean that a person would never be more than 500 M from one of these beach access points.

Beach Access!
Access to anything or any place!
I remember the days when I could walk into any of the hotels to get a facial.
Walk in from the beach and have a drink at the bar. And use the pool.
Go to any hotel and enjoy happy hour, or have dinner.
I, as a single, would walk from the Marina after dinner a little or lot tipsy, along the bike path to my place singing, and not even think about being fearful.
I enjoyed that carefree spirit.
I miss that freedom.
Go forward, enjoy all the wonderful thing about the place we love.

Almost all access to La Ropa is through private property.

The accesses are therefore not public. They are private and the owners let people use them.
A public access is so designated on official plats.

Almost all access to La Ropa is through private property.
There are four main public access points and a couple or three minor ones for La Ropa. How many do you need?
Not counting the legendary escape tunnel from El Partenón.

That is my experience as well. I just visit but it seems like I can count four public (presumably) access points and a number of others that may be private but no one minds if you use them.

Sorry to hear of your health challenged; Vern's health has been going down hill the past few years (I'm expecting that this will be my last trip for quite awhile; I will need to be here at home helping him with daily needs, care, reminders to take medications, etc) His doctors are discussing Quality vs. Quantity with him. There is no 'cure', no improvement expected.

Just past the Hotel Barcelo is a small street that ends just before the public entrance to the beach. When we stay at Pacifica will walk down the beach to the public entrance and walk into town. If we are carrying a heavy load will take a taxi back to our unit. Even staying at the Grand and doing a beach day at Pacifica will do the same procedure, been doing it since the hotel use to be the Sheridan many years ago.

There are many places that are privately owned but the public is allowed to access the beach.
In some cases the legal public entrance has been retitled into public hands. As beach property becomes more valuable the number of public accesses will "suddenly be retitled in a magic act" that is tough to follow.

La Cucaracha is the name of the part of the beach at Playa El Palmar with public access next to the Barceló. The other two public access points are Carlos'n'Charlie's (or just Carlos) and Las Escolleras at the Marina.

Maybe you're not old enough to remember the original Carlos'n'Charlie's on the beach. As far as I know they changed their name to just Carlos, but not being a bar person I could be mistaken. Google lists them as Charlie's, so maybe that's their name now. I can't keep up with the all the name changes of all the bars and restaurants. Older locals should know where I'm referring to. I'm surprised you don't.

Carlos/Charlies/Carlos'n'Charlies....whatever.... has been on the beach for years. It's down past Posada Real and the dolphin prison. There's good public access, including toilets, and a fairly large parking lot. Since most, if not all the hotels on Playa Palmar became AI, Carlos has been one of the very few spots to eat and have a beer without a damned bracelet.

So is Carlos/Charlies/Carlos and Charlies , whatever open? Last time I checked they were closed.

This is the best entrance on the South End going to "Z". I could not remember the name of the street. Do not remember street names. Like I said earlier, when staying at Pacifica if we don't take transportation to the main gate and enjoy the beautiful walk into town, we take that entrance.
