Playa La Majahua - for John
Back in the 70's and 80's Playa La Majahua was where young folks and hippies hung out.
Then in the early 1990's when Carlos Salinas de Gortari was President of Mexico his brother Guillermo set up a real estate development business and acquired the land in the small valley and beach of La Majahua, a place that I believe should've been preserved as a natural park because it was home to wildlife including deer and jaguar and parrots. But invading humans have obliterated much of the animal population. Guillermo Salinas de Gortari went to jail for corruption, and the development never happened though there are a few model homes there. When he was eventually released from jail not that many years ago I believe the land was still in his name, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that he sold his interest in the development. Not sure who owns it now. You can probably Google the details if you're interested. I continue believing it should be part of a natural preserve like El Limón even though we've killed most of the wildlife.
