Hotel Irma and Coolers

Does the Mega Store sell cheap coolers that I can buy for use during my stay then leave? I love my ice and also want to keep some other items in a cooler during my stay and assume this would work well for that.

Any other suggestion are welcome. Note that for the past 20 years we have stayed on Playa Madera with a kitchen but can't doing it this time for a variety of reasons.

No more coolers allowed on beaches made of Styrofoam. OR ANY Styrofoam for that matter.

Maybe an option to pack a soft sided one from home? Less garbage...

Great suggestion and exactly what we do. For $12-$14 on line you can buy a nice flat folding 13" x 22" which is about the same size as the styro one they sell there.

I won one of them and use it when ever the need is for a portable cooler. Really like how it folds flat. The cooler has come in handy numerous of times.

We stay away from those beaches made of Styrofoam, much preferring the sand variety.;-)

You can ask at the front desk and sometimes they have a cooler you can use left by a previous guest ;-)

This thread brings back fun memories. The one time I stayed at the Irma, I bought one of the dreaded styro coolers. A message board friend was coming down the next week and I told him I'd leave it at the front desk with his name on it. As I was dropping it off and leaving instructions, he walked up to check in. Met that board friend IRL, which pleased me. That damn cooler made it through many Irma guests/board folk before I lost track of it.

If you hope to bring a cool beverage down to the pool deck, you might also pack a couple of Yetis or similar insulated cups.

The Irma is now quite vigilant about prohibiting guests from bringing their own cerveza to the pool deck, but seems content to allow them to drink from insulated cups which, I am guessing, in most cases do not contain iced tea.
