As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,157 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (same as yesterday), 174 that have resulted in fatalities, 26 that are currently active, and approximately 1,818 that have recovered. Between 3 and 2 weeks ago Zihuatanejo registered an increase in the incidence of active cases of 3.82 per 100,000 inhabitants (Zihuatanejo has a population of 130,796 inhabitants). La Unión and Petatlán currently register only 1 active case each. Guerrero currently registers an incidence rate of 16.4 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Felt a tad warmer today. A bit more humid. But just a little. Nights remain deliciously refreshing for those of us fortunate to live near the water.

How my wife and I miss walking out our door into a lovely little park full of trees and flowering plants, many that we and the neighbors had planted there, and especially the lovely statue that seemed like it was looking right at my wife's boutique (which has been closed and leased out since the pandemia began). The ugly concrete filled space across the street from our home is a huge disappointment courtesy of our local and state governments. The rest of the waterfront isn't much better. Most neighbors I've spoken with are extremely disappointed at the additional beach being covered in concrete, exactly what we asked the government NOT to do.

We had a busy holiday weekend with enough tourists to give us an idea what to expect for Semana Santa. Here a family of tourists enjoys a walk along the waterfront during the morning.
