As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,210 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (3 more than yesterday), 181 that have resulted in fatalities, 24 that are currently active, and approximately 1,860 that have recovered. Zihuatanejo's Rate of Occurrence from March 17 to 31 is 21.4 per 100,000.

The tourists began arriving en masse today. Traffic is frequently snarled, horns are frequently blaring and there are no longer easy parking places downtown. You should've seen the photo this morning of the caseta on the México-Cuernavaca section of the Autopista del Sol. ¡Abarrotadísimo! ¡Prepárense! It must be Semana Santa!

There was apparently a huge fire in the region because this morning a heavy pall of smoke crept up northwest face of Cerro Viejo and whitened the skies. The smell of smoke was definitely noticeable as soon as we woke up. But so far our absolutely perfect weather continues and winds blew the smoke away after a couple of hours.
