As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,256 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (6 more than yesterday), 182 that have resulted in fatalities, 32 that are currently active, and approximately 1,894 that have recovered. All over the country cases are down, and Guerrero is very close to going to Semáforo Verde, which means we can get our schools back open.

Most of the rest of the Costa Grande between here and Acapulco and part of the Tierra Caliente will start receiving their vaccines this weekend. They'll be receiving the CanSino vaccine, which I believe is a one-shot deal. Chilpancingo is receiving their second dose this week

Local tourism has just about come to a dead halt and the streets seem abnormally quiet. No children on their way to or from school. No taxis going round and round looking for fares. Almost no tourists making their way to the pier in the morning or returning in the afternoons. Eerie. A few foreign tourists are showing up, but so far very few.

Our mornings are still so cool that sleeping under a sheet is necessary if you sleep with a fan on low speed and windows open. Daytime has been absolutely perfect. Paradise!

This was worth getting up early for.

The Cansino vaccine is almost as good at preventing serious disease as Pfizer and Moderna, but is less efficient at preventing disease and by extension transmission.

You may need a booster

Sounds like a gamble to me.

Not really, It was as effective as the other vaccines in preventing serious illness. But somewhat more people became ill than with the J&J vaccine, which THEORETICALLY that they could be more likely to transmit it. while it is suggested that a booster may be needed, there are concerns that boosters of all the others will be needed too.If I had a choice I'd take either Moderna or Pfizer over J&J or CanSino. Were it the only vaccine available to me, I would not hesitate in receiving it.
