As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,299 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (11 more than yesterday), 188 that have resulted in fatalities, 43 that are currently active, and approximately 1,921 that have recovered.

It'll start with a little puff. Ever so slight. Ever so gentle. Warm humid air will move up from the south and change everything, and these lovely cool nights and mild days will be nothing but a memory. Enjoy these cool evenings while they last. Soon you won't be using hot water in the shower, though you may turn it on for the cool water that comes out for those first few precious seconds because the ambient temperature will warm your tinaco plenty. Get ready 'cause here it comes. Any day now.

Folks here are commenting how there seems to be an unusual number of Estadounidenses arriving right now. Usually they disappear before Easter and we don't see them again until November. But the arrival of the vaccine has made traveling more possible for many people. Folks who are vaccinated are anxious to make up for some lost time in a sunny tropical place where time slows down and cares melt away. That's what Zihuatanejo's all about! Welcome back, old friends!

That is exactly what we are doing. Being fully vaccinated, we can travel with little risk to ourselves or our hosts. We are catching up and enjoying the cooler than normal weather. In general, we have been happy to see the precautions being taken by most folks. Unfortunately like many in their age range in the states, younger folks feel invulnerable and do not follow protocols likely making this last longer for all of us.

Congratulations on your vaccination! Just making sure you know that you can still contract the virus and be a carrier and contagious until your immune system (now prepared) fights it off. You still need to wear a mask and social distance until this virus is fully eradicated. It's the reason we have to achieve herd immunity; we must all get vaccinated to counteract the inefficacy of the vaccine and small percentage of people who cannot be vaccinated for some medical reason. If we cannot achieve eradication, then this virus will be endemic and able to mutate into new and potentially deadlier more contagious variants. Everyone must do their part.

I'm sure the good doctor to whom you addressed your comments is fully aware of all that. I believe he has stated as much here on numerous occasions.

Glad to hear it. Since this is a public forum my post was meant for wider distribution.
But while I'm getting a virtual finger-wagging, I might as well get it all over with.
We've just bought a unit in Kau Kan. So I'm one of the "condo people". Send over the tar and feathers.
I also think the new waterfront is quite nice. So string me up for that.
What else? Oh yes, I also think AMLO isn't all he's cracked up to be (although I also believe he and all Mexican presidents are screwed until the USA legalises and regulates all drugs). So sign me up for the chain gang.
I do have some redeeming features apparently, but this is clearly the wrong forum for those.

I simply pointed out that you were addressing a retired doctor. You've posted the same message twice now. No big deal. Not a problem.

But I do hope that getting all that off your chest makes you feel better. ;-)
