As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,425 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 LESS than yesterday, probably reassigned a case to a different municipio), 194 that have resulted in fatalities, 6 that are currently active, and approximately 2,076 that have recovered.

I will never get used to seeing all the new concrete on our downtown beach, including that used for the posts to build palapas for the beach restaurants. Shouldn't each restaurant have to cover their own expenses for improving the value of their business like the rest of us? It also breaks my heart to see what is happening in La Ropa. Too much development, too much concrete, too many restrictions. Tourist destinations sell IMAGE, and after cultivating and crafting that image for so long our local politicians have trashed it for their own personal benefit, and I'm not the only person by a long shot disgusted by their greed and shortsightedness.

Hoo boy is it hot! Even freshly watered plants look wilted. Día de La Marina came and went without the customary rains. The hillsides are a copper color, and even old large trees are dying. Since we got so little rain last year, especially the latter part of the rainy season, now is when we see the consequences really take their toll. The last thing we needed was to have the green space in front of our home converted into a concrete oven, what coolness its shade once provided is gone. Remember to keep hydrated!

The mar de fondo caused waves to wash high up on the beaches.
