The offshore breeze from Tormenta Tropical Enrique got so strong during the afternoon that we had to close up our windows facing the beach to keep the dust and sand from blowing into our home. We really notice the missing trees that used to protect us from the wind off the bay! It isn't raining yet, but the satellite images show it's close by and could start at any time. I expect it will continue like this throughout the evening and possibly through tomorrow morning. The Triatlón and other sporting events may have to be cancelled, certainly the swimming portion. I expect the bay and coastal navigation will also be closed meaning no trips to Las Gatas or Isla Ixtapa for all the folks visiting us this weekend.

For those of you with furry family members, remember that it's la temporada de las garrapatas. ;-)

The sea breeze from Playa La Madera is illuminated at sunrise while a barrendero cleans the beach and panga fishermen work the shoreline.

Here on Playa la Ropa we have been watching our weather station.

On our former Southern California beach we daily had winds to at least 20MPH. With this event here, we hit 33MPH mid afternoon, and then dropped to a high of 22. Now, it's still.

Do realize that we haven't had a wind this high here in almost 2 years. The trees have lost all of their loose stuff, our pool that we cleaned this morning, is full of debris, and the roads have branches down. It's very different here.

It seems to have abated, at least for now. It's a lovely temperature, and we were able to have a great paddle this morning. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Living in the tropics is new to us, very interesting, and we LOVE it very very much. We have been her full time for three years as of two days ago.

We hope that these weather events don't keep anyone from visiting, it's very warm, very clean and very green.

This morning our pool was down to 90F, and the ocean was significantly warmer. This is paradise.

Since the wind has been generally coming from a southeasterly direction, the hills behind La Ropa shelter that part of the bay, and things appear calm to you all while downtown the wind is sandblasting everyone and everything. The "remodeled" plaza looked more like a beach this morning, it was so full of sand. Now that there is only one amate tree on the beach and one other in front of our home, the totally paved plaza acts like a wind tunnel. Its two pathetic new little palms trees ineffective at blocking any wind, unlike the 3 almendro trees that were cut down which did a fair job.

A 32°C pool is still bathtub warm. (Don't know why you're still using Imperial measurements.) ;-)
