Turtle question for snorkelers...

I've seen lots of large turtles while snorkeling - the smallest being about 8 inches across. Has anyone seen smaller turtles - between hatchling size and big turtles?

We see them when we are paddling our SUP's.

You see little ones? Between the sizes of the ones that beach and lay eggs and the released new hatchlings. I've never seen them! Cool to see the big ones, though!

Yes, we do see little ones occasionally. Probably start seeing them any day now because there should be a lot of them hatching.

Thanks! Wondered where they went! We mostly snorkel mostly closer to open ocean, so maybe the bigger turtles are there.

Based on what I have read baby turtles quickly make their way to the deep sea and seaweed patches in the middle of the ocean where they can find shelter, food and warmer water. They don't stick around here for very long until they are adults and ready to lay eggs. That is my understanding as a laymen who has been interested in their life cycles.
