The first guests in our rental apartment arrived Monday. When we asked if they had been here before, they said, "Yes, on a cruise ship. We thought it was so nice that now we are here for two weeks!"
Guess the cruise ships do generate some income, even if indirectly!

Congratulations! It couldn’t happen to nicer people.

I know that Country Dancer first came on a cruise ship as well. She has been down many times since then, along with others that she might drag along. I hated seeing them out there, but I suppose there is some value to the area.

One of my best friends who has lived here for many years arrived from a cruise ship and never returned to the ship. Haha!

I don't know if Zihua is getting as many repeat visits from folks that originally came on a cruise ship as before. Years ago when Zihua was getting several cruise ships per year and part of the regular cruise schedule for Mexico, dozens of people I know ended up coming back later and many of them are regular visitors. But this was during the heyday of both Ixtapa and Zihua, before the all-inclusive and when Zihua was not as crowded as today. Don't get me wrong, I still love Zihua and it's people but nowadays it does not have the same charm it used to have and is tougher to sell for visitors who have so many other options...

I discovered Zihua on a cruise ship in 2007. A year later. I met a man, took him on a vacation to Zihua, he proposed, the next year we returned and we got married on the beach on Playa Larga. The next year we returned for our first anniversary and decided to buy property. We built our home and the rest is history.

My boss gave me a bonus of a Mexican Cruise Vacation on the the Norwegian Star almost 20 years ago. I was by myself and really bored on the ship; way too noisy and crowded.
I took the Beach break to Las Gatas Beach. Did not want to go back to the ship. For the first time I felt like I was seeing the real Mexico and I fell in love with it.
I've been coming back every year except the last few. I'm hooked on Zihuatanejo and its people. I've also convinced a few friends here in Vancouver and they're hooked as well
So many fond memories, like the night we checked into the house next door to Il Mare, I didn't realize they we're there at first and popped out on the balcony naked...a scary sight for the people at Il Mare.
