Health authorities report 5 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo with only one person in the Covid-19 section of the Hospital General.

The Presidente of México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced today that booster shots will be made available this month to Mexico's elderly. Foreign residents will be included in this process should they wish to. El Presidente guarantees there are enough doses to go around while still donating vaccines to poorer nations in the rest of America. (He filled the zócalo yesterday with a quarter million supporters yesterday evening for his Tercer Informe, like a State of the Union Address.)

The peregrinaciones guadalupanos have begun. Three or four processions went past our home early Thursday evening, NONE shooting off rockets, thank goodness. Hopefully the military will crack down on the use of fireworks this year, and hopefully the sacerdotes will instruct their parishioners not to shoot off the large exploding bottle-rockets we've seen in the past several years. We and the rest of the area's residents, including dogs, cats and birds, would appreciate it.
