There are still NO currently active cases of Covid-19 being reported along the entire Costa Grande of Guerrero.

I've not seen a peep in any local newspaper about the several recent shootouts. Yesterday there apparently was another one. There was a heavy police presence downtown along the waterfront last evening after what sounded like a shootout that sounded like it was on the northern side of El Centro. So far no one in local government is stepping up to the plate publicly to acknowledge them, a situation I find as alarming as the violence itself. But you can bet locals sure as hell are talking about them. Lots of chisme going around. A damn shame to see this going on. If you hear gunfire don't forget to duck!

While the USA is apparently revisiting the 1950's, our state lawmakers will be voting soon to decriminalize abortion in Guerrero. It's expected to pass. How ironic.

This weekend is going to be a busy one, at least for us downtown. Lots of fishermen are expected to be here for this weekend's tournament. A lot of beer is going to get gulped! Let's hope the weather cooperates and the current mar de fondo doesn't last and that there are no effects from the recent patches of red tide in the area.

Our refreshing and moderate weather is holding up. Loving every minute of it! This must be paradise!

Things are interesting.

We will be out on our boards, because it's been a long time since the last tournament, and watching the start.

Last time it was fun, we were taking a break from our paddle to watch the start. It was great to watch! All the boats started at the same time, with a big ROAR and the bay turned bouncy and stayed that way for a while. It was fun to watch, see and listen to the start.

From the little we see, it appears that this year's event is more of a catch and release event. Sure hope that is the case. IF not, can we have some???

It remains a slaughter tournament which is why it does not have my backing other than to recognize it. The Catch and Release part is a minor category same as the marlin and dorado categories.

And the poor slob who wins the million pesos will immediately become a high profile target for kidnapping and extortion.

Unfortunately there are always numerous ethical problems with this tournament, and this year is no exception. The mayor announced his father was entering the tournament. That shouldn't be allowed.

I've been on a hiatus from the board for awhile but let me take this opportunity to bounce off Rob's "A lot of beer is going to get gulped!" and offer a bit of a caution based on an incident that happened to me not quite 3 weeks ago.
I'm going to shortcut ALL the details at the time so let me just say I was drugged by having someone drop a "date rape" drug, most likely Rohypnol, and yeah I know the obvious reaction is "who would want to date rape YOU."
But my current mission is to remind all of you to keep a close eye on your beer and for that matter any other drinks or anything that might be 'doctored'.
Let's leave it at that and when I've amassed ALL the evidence, the details, the hypotheses, I am likely to tell the full tale.

I hope you had a blood analysis confirming the incident and that you filed a report with the Fiscalía Especial para Atención al Turista even though I know they are less than helpful. Here we have an old saying "papelito habla", essentially meaning that without a paper trail nothing can be done. So even if local officials don't do their job, a case number or FOLIO can be used to call attention higher up the food chain. This problem needs to be nipped in the bud, and your details will help bring proper attention and hopefully get desired results.

And one of the crazy things
Nothing was taken
Although my phone was taken and returned the next day
And just so you know I am not making this up some of it is on video.
I did report it to the Tourist Police in Ixtapa the following day.
However I was unable to make much sense since I was still ‘ under the influence’ so they advised me to come back the following day which I did and I believe a case number was generated.
I declined to be taken to hospital, clinic or doctor when I awoke the following morning after approximately 12 hours of being unconscious because physically I felt fine. In retrospect I probably should have for 2 reasons:
1. rule out alcohol was involved
2. possibly do a blood assay to see if Rohypnol was detected.
I wonder if Dr. Timmac has a comment.
As you can see I can’t help but tell the tale
But I don’t want to give many public details because unlike you with your fearless approach to confront abuses, I’m trying not to step on toes that could backfire.

I've given you the only clue that is a legitimate possibility, which is that the substance they most likely placed in my Victoria was Rohypnol.
So the question I was getting at was whether you have any experience in treating people who have been or are under the influence and secondarily whether your knowledge or intrigue of knowledge would lead you to remark anything about that substance.
As regards the second item I have not changed any passwords since it is as clear as clear mud to me that they did not get into my phone and thus have access to passwords.
If it turns out they were savvy enough to do so without me aware, or clone my phone, or any other sophisticated treatment of my phone, then my hat is off to them and any potential accomplices and I just surrender everything to this superior race of women and people who have probably put a spell on me anyway.

In the 2 years we lived in Zihua it happened to me twice. Complete blackout. Collasped outside Roseys. A taxi driver helped my wife get me in the cab and helped her get me in the condo. I had 2 margaritas with dinner. I remembered nothing after leaving the table.
A neighbor of ours had the same experience after one margarita in the same restaurant. His sister visited and had the same thing happen. She made it home and woke up soaked. Has no idea if she was in the bay or the pool.

These last couple of comments kind of blow me away.
So many questions occur to me. Did either of you get a blood test to determine what might be in your system?
In my case I have had an immediate emotional reaction and have decided to sell my condo here. Not so much because of the incident and any fear for safety, but more so because of the way my homeowners association has reacted and treated me. It is rather despicable. I have chosen not to blurt the details publicly because I sense how some people are covering their asses because of perceived liability. However I have posted many details on my own Facebook page and have had private discussions whenever the opportunity presented itself. Once this is over, which is probably when my deal has closed, I will likely reveal all. Sorry to be a teaser…

At least as far as drinking beers goes, might the take-away from your misfortune be to drink them ONLY from a sealed can or bottle?
That would probably eliminate the possiblity of getting "drugged".

It would be nice IF we didn't even have to be concerned about that even happening here in Z.

That would be the most obvious takeaway.
The second most obvious would be when your ‘date’ (aka ‘hookup’) shows up with a gross unattractive friend, perhaps call a timeout or a do-over
