Health officials for Guerrero report there are currently 109 active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 2 in La Unión, 17 in Petatlán, 765 in Acapulco, and 1,393 for the entire state. Fortunately it appears the hospitals aren't filling up. A 92-year old man with hypertension died of Covid-19 in the Hospital General.

Zihuatanejo's Capitanía de Puerto opened the port back up to navigation today as Bonnie passed by and moved away and any threat was reduced. The waves were maybe a half meter at most, not enough to be a problem for navigation or for embarking and disembarking of passengers at the piers. The speed at which the storm passed by also helped reduce the effects here along our coast.

Word is that the local public transport services will begin operating at 100% this Wednesday. Definitely good news after 5 days of being shut down, especially for students and workers.

There goes Huracán Bonnie off into the distance and sunshine returns to Zihuatanejo. All we got was a nice light rain.

"A 92-year old man with hypertension died of Covid-19 in the Hospital General"
The report I read in Meganoticiasixtapa said it like this:
"The head of the health jurisdiction 05 Costa Grande, Paloma Chavarría Rodríguez, reported that the deceased person was a male adult of 92 years, with arterial hypertension, had remained hospitalized for pneumonia, in addition to having tested positive for Covid-19."
That sounds a little different than "of Covid". Just sayin'.

I read several reports of this. His death is attributed to Covid-19. I believe it's only the first or second death registered from Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo this year.

Sometimes, the actual cause of death is unclear, especially when several things are going wrong at the same time. I like it when they give the cause of death as, "respiratory failure." Right. He ain't breathing. Good call.
