La Mera DefiniZIHón de Un Paraíso
State health officials report currently registering 233 active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 7 in La Unión, 35 in Petatlán, 25 in Técpan, 753 in Acapulco, and 3,330 for the entire state of Guerrero. The increase continues statewide, but there is currently only one patient in the Covid-19 section of Zihuatanejo's Hospital General, so it looks like we're still doing good.
The port of Zihuatanejo was finally opened back up to navigation by small vessels this Tuesday afternoon, which means Las Gatas and Isla Ixtapa are back in business.
I'm still not seeing any serious promotion for Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa by any local or state entity. The Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones Ixtapa Zihuatanejo (OCVIZ) wants "influencers" from who knows where to promote our destination, while the city government is announcing the showing of a promo video in a hotel in Mexico City. Why not show it during a CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN and MSNBC evening news break when tens of millions of people are tuned in? I believe I could do more and better promoting with just the salary of one of these folks than they do with their entire budget. Very disappointing.
Looks like by next weekend we could have another large hurricane passing by off our coast. Stay tuned to our local weather.
Today was a bit warm and humid. Had to turn the fan up a notch during our siesta. But the large waves seem to have finally calmed down, and the hillsides just keep growing more lush and verdant. The rainy season is the most beautiful time of the year here, IMHO.
