The resulting #1 out of 52 countries award is hard to square with the fact that Mexico ranked #49 out of 52 for safety.

Safety is a poorly measured and applied variable. I've ALWAYS felt safer here than I ever did in the USA where every crazy redneck and their cousin/brother can buy an Uzi, an AR-15 and a .50 cal Barrett.

Wow! 800 rounds/minute! That's gonna be on a lot of Christmas wishlists in the United States of Airheads. When will 2nd Amendmenters be able to purchase a "nuclear-bomb-in-a-briefcase", and will "open carry" rules still apply?

Gobsmacked at how normal it is now for US politicians to parade around with weapons of war, posing for a Christmas photo with their up-armored family.

Already there. According to the Wiki, that weapon was used in the Orlando nightclub shooting.

Agreed. A high hippiness score and a high I-don't-feel-safe score seem a bit contradictory.
I certainly feel safer here than in the US. Not only less likely to be a crime or shooting victim, but also, I feel safer from the police. I do not however feel real confident about driving at night.

"I feel safer from the police."
I know driving through Texas (or many podunk towns in the midwest) my odds of getting pulled over by a cop and jailed or mugged is greater than the threat from a "criminal." File under: Sandra Bland.

Where's our Man from Montana? I was hoping he would chime in about this new assault rifle. I read a couple of articles but to be truthful, I know less than zero about guns. I don't think it is available yet. It is the civilian version of the U.S. military's new assault rifle. It is supposed to be able to cut through any type of body armor. Chilling.
And, oh, the price was quoted at US$8,000.

I don't know which man from Montana you're referring to, but this Montanan, while owning - and having used - hunting rifles, has absolutely no use for military style weapons and feels strongly that they should not be available to the public.

My apologies. I was referring to the gentleman who was mildly miffed at the discussion of a local who brandished his pistol in public. I guess I could look it up ... here he is: http://www.zihuatanejo.net/tablero/messages/160510.html

This Montanan was referring to your comment about a stranger’s male member. And to some degree about the number of cows the stranger might own. This Montanan had enough of rapid fire weapons in 1967 and as such does not own one. Thereby making your comment about me “chiming in” just another dumb comment. You chose not to own one as do I so please leave me out of this.

Ps, I was miffed because a “Montana wannabe “ called a complete stranger a “shit kicker” and expressed his complete disappointment in the state that he moved to by his choice. Ya know, move there and then change everything.

You are, presumably, referring to my post regarding the person at the pharmacy who apparently didn't like my wearing a mask, glared at me and brandished his firearm. That kind of behavior would be considered rude and aggressive in most, if not all, societies. While it's not always easy, I make an effort to be polite and respectful to all. You also claimed that I stated my complete disappointment in the state that I had moved to. I have lived in 6 different countries, 3 different states and have enjoyed them all while being fully aware that perfection is lacking in all of them. I moved to Montana for a number of reasons, without expecting perfection. I'm perfectly happy here and plan to stay for the rest of my life. Feel free to disagree with me but forget the lies and the bullshit. Over and out.

Most Montanans, at least the ones in our area, don't wear masks. I'm really not interested in taking a survey as to discover who has what reason for not wearing one, but I suspect that a politically induced denial of science is one of, if not the leader. Stand by for complaints that this subject has nothing to do with Zihua.
