Health officials for the state of Guerrero report there are currently 17 confirmed active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 1 in La Unión, 2 in Petatlán, 2 in Técpan, 47 in Acapulco, and 226 in the entire state. There have been no patients in the Covid-19 section of the Hospital General for over 2 weeks.

This morning after a light refreshing overnight rain it was easy to make out around 20 different turtle tracks on Playa Principal this morning, all of whom apparently had their eggs removed. Since no one had seen the Marinos or Protección Civil removing them, everyone assumed they were stolen by poachers. Our city government pays lip service to being ecology friendly, but actions speak louder than words. Needless to say, many of my neighbors and I were quite vexed at seeing the sad results of the dereliction of duty by our local authorities. Possibly the busiest night so far this year by sea turtles on Playa Principal, and all the eggs were stolen! Extremely disappointing and infuriating.

After a picture postcard perfect day, it got cool enough Tuesday night to have to sleep under the sheets and turn the fan on low. Mmmmmmmm! Lovin' it!

Casa Mi Corazón, formerly Casa Amarilla, is ready to rent on top of the small hill at Playa La Madera. Rent the 1 BR apartment or the top two floors with 2 BR or the entire home. Killer view and great location.

Several fresh turtle nests can be seen here, all left uncovered apparently by poachers.

Hi Rob,
Thank you for all your photos and information you give us its much appreciated. I do have a question though, what do the turtle egg poachers do with the eggs they steal?
Thank you.

Thank you.

They sell them to local restaurants whose customers think the eggs will make their sorry asses more virile.

The rumor about virility is NOT true. I ate 12 of them one day and only 9 worked.

You have a very sick mind, Timmac. I admire that in a person.

There are a couple of new nests every morning for the past several days at my house. Lencho, our local tortuga-ista patrols the beach every morning before sunup, collects the eggs and takes them to the hatchery.
So, it looks like a prolific nesting season, and some are getting saved.
