We have gone back and forth all day about getting a second booster. At the moment, we have decided not to, but we could change our minds.

We live here, received our Pfister two shots, and later got the Astro Zenica that totally kicked our asses. We like to think that we are very healthy, are in great shape and got our flu shots here.

Unless we find out otherwise, we'll likely skip the second booster.

We'd like to hear other opinions.

I would encourage you to rethink your decision. If you were in the USA perhaps it might be a reasonable decision. But you’re not. Should you be unlucky and develop a serious case of Covid, the level of medical care available there is very basic. Do you know if they have the antiviral treatments available? Even though the current variant seems to be less serious in term of fatalities, the incidence of “long Covid” doesn’t seem to have changed much. Feeling lousy for a couple of days is a small price to pay IMO to substantially decrease your chance of serious illness and long Covid.

We are double vaxxed and triple boosted. We are off to NYC next week for our fall theater trip, we will mask on planes in airports and in theaters. We will be visiting relatives and friends in their 90’s and will test prior to visiting them.

It is pretty simple to lower your odds of becoming ill or transmitting it to others. We don’t find it that intrusive.

I live in NYC And agree with you. My husband and I had our 3rd booster(Pfizer) 2weeks ago and had no side effects.
Make sure the people you are visiting in NYC have had all of the vaccinations available to them. The 3rd booster is very easy to get in New York City. Be safe, enjoy the city. When are you in Zihua?

Pretty sure they will have, since they’ve had all of their others. A couple of folks are in their 90’s and we test immediately before we see them, as we did when we were in Boston and Maine last week. We will be at Catalina just after Thanksgiving and again in late February.

The discussion reminds me of my mother-in-laws funeral.
The funeral director came up to me sensing I was less upset than others.
He said, “Can I ask you a question?” I stopped dancing and said, “Yes.”
He said, “About your mother-in-law, do you want her embalmed, cremated or buried?”
I replied, “Do all three, why take chances!”

The current variant is less severe than delta was. There are now treatments available(at least in the USA) that are effective. Vaccines, with appropriate boosters, lower the odds a lot.
That said, my response is still, “Do all three, why take chances?”

It's where it is here in Mexico because we've followed the recommendations of our Secretaría de Salud, worn masks, washed hands, practiced social distancing, and gotten all the vaccinations possible. We didn't behave as folks have in the USA or anywhere else.

My immediate family has NOT had the Covid-19 virus even though we have a business that exposes us to strangers. I'd like to think it's because we've also followed the suggestions of our health authorities.

We got our booster shots of this same vaccine the last time it was here, and this dosis is for the folks who missed the last round. If you live here and have missed any of the vaccinations, I hope you'll be a responsible citizen or resident and get this vaccination.

Now is the season for Zika, Dengue and Chikungunya. I'd sure hate to get one of those at the same time as Covid-19 and not be fully vaccinated.

Just got my fifth last week of the new and improved vaccine. I work for a group of hospitals and they just dropped mandatory weekly testing of unvaccinated employees. Still stuck with a freaking mask mandate at work even though our office isn’t within 5 miles of a patient. I have been tested 24 times for Covid by work mainly for going to Mexico. Three weeks ago my wife got Covid, work said that I didn’t need to test and can come to work. Must be some good Covid here and some scary shit over there. We need a vaccine for stupid.

Wise move! Too bad they didn’t have Pfizer of Moderna, which have more protection from Omicron. That said, any vaccine is better than no vaccine. That particular vaccine is 92% effective at preventing severe disease.

Whatever the side effects are, they are likely to be less than the side effects of getting Covid or long Covid. We’ve been lucky enough to get Moderna for all 5 shots. It is a few percentage points better than Pfizer. Our side effects have been minimal and with one exception gone in 24 hours. For reason unknown the first booster side effects lasted a bit over 48 hours, injection site pain, low grade temp, back pain, myalgias (muscle aching) and fatigue. When and if the next booster is available we will be getting that too. We are holding off on the flu shot until mid October, since it only lasts for around 6 months and flu season hasn’t started yet. FWIW, we continue to mask with N-95 on planes and in theaters even though it is no longer required. Although we hate it, it is a minor inconvenience and does lower the odds.

He did fine with all 4 vaccinations. I did fine with the first two Pfizer, but the AstraZeneca and the Cansino just kicked my butt.

The diarrhea started about 2 hours after the vaccination, but I thought it was a fluke. Nope. All night, along with vomiting and a high temp. Now, I'm just hot and ache all over. Hopefully the Ibuprofen will cut in eventually and make me not hurt so much. Fortunately one dog is glued to me and the other is checking in regularly.

This is not fun, but maybe I lost some weight!

Really sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction. We were only a little achy and tired like with a mild flu for a day or so last month when we went for ours. But nothing like what you're going through.

While it is possible your GI symptoms are due to the vaccination, 2 hours is awfully fast. Looking at the literature, around 3% of vaccine recipients report diarrhea. The other symptoms you report are common. If the diarrhea doesn’t clear within a day or so, you should have stool cultures done to eliminate other causes. By any chance have you been on antibiotics within the past 7-10 days?

No, it's been at least a year for antibiotics. I started taking probiotics this morning, but I still have it. The vomiting seems to be easing up, I just ate, so we'll see how that goes!

This was almost exactly the same reaction that I had to the AstraZeneca vaccine, even the same timing.

..... the Cansino just kicked my butt.

I am planning on going mañana Viernes 23 Sept, al Centro de Salud El Embalse.

Unas preguntas:

1. Did you get the Booster at El Centro de Salud El Embalse, as noted on Z Rob's post?

2. What paperwork was required?

3. What brand Booster was it?

4. The line or wait, how was that?

Muchas gracias.

1. Yes, but no. They moved it across the canal to the covered basket ball courts.

2. Two copies each of your previous vaccination history, your ID, residency card, whatever, and the downloaded page from their website.

3. Cansino

4. The only wait was until they had 10 people sitting in the row to vaccinate. We were away from home a bit less than an hour.

UPDATE:
I did go HOY 9-23, and it was still (last day) at that basketball court.
I did not have my copy del recibo CFE, that they use as a "comprobante del domicilio", though they seemed to overlook that detail, and proceeded without it. The rest of the paperwork was as you mentioned.
I got there around 1 p.m., and was injected at 1:48 p.m, which was a GIANT IMPROVEMENT from the 1st two vax shot situations.
And, same again as You mentioned: maybe 10 people or so waiting for their vacuna.
In my case, ZERO reactions, as if I didn't even get the shot.
Done deal, & all's well :-)

Glad to hear you had no ill effects. From what I understand, there are also nurses wandering around giving injections. They are really trying to get people vaccinated. However, I think the low turnout has been because of the inadequate public notification, plus we were all distracted by the earthquake, tropical storms and hurricanes when the notification originally came out.

1. Thank You for the reply.

2. As far as "Nurses wandering around giving injections ", IF U are referring to on Z public streets, not sure how that would work because to get vaccinated, they require a set of papers that people wouldn't normally be carrying with them.
Seems like a good idea, BUT unless they are making exceptions to that detail.....?

3. As far as the "inadequate public notification", etc., I agree.

SO glad you are fine. My sweetie was fine, but achy yesterday. I was functional, but not feeling great. Today, I feel fine, but only 50% of my normal energy levels. Today we went out in search of the Craft Market that was supposedly changed from last Friday in Ixtapa at the boatshow and changed to today. Not there, but it was nice to get out and now, even after 11 hours of sleep last night and a nice siesta today, I am trashed.

We still plan on hitting the beach early tomorrow and hopefully paddle/and or swim.

BTW, when we first arrived, she said we needed the printout of our CURP's. We pointed out that they were on our ID's and on the vaccination certificate. Another person agreed. Then, when she wanted a CFE bill, the other person pointed out that our other paperwork stated Zihuatanejo, and she finally accepted it. Stay smiling and just point out things!!!
