This is an iniciative that the PVEM (Partido Verde Ecologista de México) proposed 5 years ago that Morena and the PRD were against at that time. Now they voted FOR it. It still has to be passed in the Senado, and they've already taken a step backwards in Comisiones by proposing to permit one more generation of dolphins to be born in captivity, meaning that instead of doing away with their existence in captivity within 25 or so years until all those in captivity die, the industry could exist in some form for another 50 or 60 years. Let's see if this ever gets finalized and passed and published in the Diario de la Federación which would make it law.

But it certainly sends the right message.

Now if we could just get pulpo removed from the Mexican diet and protected.

Just curious. Why would you post something so intentionally divisive like this immediately after someone urging others not to eat octopus? Would registering your disagreement in a more moderate tone be so difficult?

For what it is worth, I agree with you. If we are going to eat other animals, then why should octopus be off limits? Although highly intelligent, they don't live very long. If their populations are falling precipitously because of over harvesting, then a possible ban or severe reduction of harvesting might be called for.

Your post, on the other hand, does not bring any dialogue to the table other than to rub salt into another's wound.

Again, I just don't understand why someone would do this. It's also the reason this is the only so-called "social media" forum that I participate in. (I am probably not correct in calling this forum a social media website.)

What motivates someone to act in this manner? This is what puzzles me the most about this type of behavior. I simply don't understand the reward that one would get from trolling / acting like a jerk / doing one's best to upset, anger, put down, etc. others. It seems so juvenile, so middle school.
