Lagunas Las Salinas?

Anyone know if the earth shaking ear drum piercing noise that apparently passed as music last night down in the Las Salinas area will continue tonight?

It essentially went non stop from 7 pm until beyond 1 pm and could be heard at least two miles away. I tried to sleep with ear plugs and OSHA approved hearing muff with little success.

Is it normal for there to be no reasonable cut off time say 11 pm or midnight to extremely loud and abusive concerts?

I hope you at least called the ayuntamiento or the police to complain. The Dirección de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (aka Dimaren or we just call them Ecología) is in charge of enforcing sound pollution laws.

Though you could also try the Dirección de Actividades Comerciales, Industriales, Espectáculos Públicos y de Prestación de Servicios (aka Reglamentos).

Yes, they are violating noise laws, but our municipal government apparently doesn't care because it's been going on for the past 20 years or so downtown, and folks have essentially given up complaining. They just move away instead, or if they're visitors they simply don't come back. You might remind the ayuntamiento of that when you talk to them. I always do.

Only 1 am? Consider yourself lucky. When we stayed in Centro, on Cuauhtemoc near Ejido, the racket from concerts at Las Salinas, and a large restaurant on Catalina Gonzalez would blast until 5 or 6 am. Complaints regularly fell on deaf ears.
After a few years of that, we moved out to the quiet residential area on the far side of Plaza Kyoto. Heaven, noisewise. Vote with your feet.
